Judo cancelled tonight Tues 5th Jan 2010. We’ll keep you updated.
A weekend of Judo is to be held at St. Albans Judo Club. Sensei Alf and Sensei Sato will be running the course. If you are interested please see Sensei Sean.
On Sunday September 13th Sensei Sean was invited to Judge the British Open Kata Championships at High Wycombe.
Over nine countries entered the event with all the home nations taking medals. The Junior section was very well represented and the future looks good for kata.

Todmorden News has written a piece about our anniversary:
TODMORDEN Judo Club has come of age – celebrating 21 years of top class coaching in the town.
Based at Todmorden Cricket Club on Burnley Road, the club and its instructors over the years have helped produce many fine judo players of all ages and abilities.
The club started at the St Johns Ambulance Hall and when the doors opened for the first time over 100 people turned up. Sean Nuttall (above) opened the club up after moving to Todmorden as he saw a demand for something to do other than the traditional sports.
He said: “Judo is the gentle art of self defence, and requires you to use your opponent’s balance and weight against them. “Faith Pitman (pictured), who represents Great Britain, is from Todmorden and trained at the club in her early days.” Over the last four years founder and senior instructor Sean has been selected three to Great Britain.
Judo has several kata, mostly created in the late 19th century by Kano Jigoro, the founder of judo. The judo kata involve two participants and preserves a number of techniques that are not permitted in competition or in randori, including punches, kicks, and the use of the katana and other weapons.
The most commonly studied judo kata is Nage-no-kata, which consists of 15 throwing techniques. The Katame-no-kata is composed of pinning techniques, chokes, and joint locks. Kime-no-kata is a long kata consisting of self-defense techniques against both unarmed attacks, and attacks with swords and knives.
The club welcomes new and old players and children over the age of four to train on Saturdays between 10am and noon during the cricket season and until 1pm outside the cricket session.
